The countdown timer running on Xiaomi official website comes to an end as the company makes Mi Max 2 officially available in Pakistan. We have seen the arrival of Xiaomi Mi 6 in the same way. The Mi Max 2 is the successor to the Mi Max – already available in the market, however, the latest release brings a few notable upgrades from its predecessor.
The Mi Max 2 features a fill unibody metal build. The antenna lines have been made a lot more discreet and are only found on the top and bottom the device. As far as display is concerned, we find the same gigantic 6.44-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS LCD screen. Xiaomi has made bezels smaller making the phone slightly handier.
If you look deeper inside, you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with Adreno 506 GPU. Here we see a slight downgrade as compared to existing Mi Max but it will surely affect the battery life in a positive way. However, the rest of the hardware is pretty impressive. There’s 4 GB of RAM and you also get 64 GB of internal storage and that too expandable by using a microSD card up to 128GB.
On the camera front, Mi Max 2 brings a 12 MP camera with dual LED flash and phase detection autofocus. It is the same camera sensor as you would find on the Mi 6, less the OIS, so you should expect some solid performance from it. The front camera is 5MP.
The main highlight of Mi Max 2 isn’t the display or the hardware but it is the huge 5,300 mAh battery that it uses. Xiaomi claims that it can last you through 3 days of usage. To charge up such a large battery, it supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 which can charge the phone up to 66% in an hour.
Price and Availability
Xiaomi has made Mi Max 2 in three colours (grey, silver, gold) with price tag of Rs. 34,900. There’s no doubt the price is much more than what we’ve seen in China, but for the price, it provides reasonable specifications that should triumph the competition.
