Long rumored to sell officially in Pakistan, Xiaomi mobiles are now reportedly launching in the country in coming week.
Xiaomi, a China based smartphone manufacturer company, is growing in stature day-by-day, despite having virtually no physical presence outside of Asia. The focus of consumers and enthusiasts on the brand is due to the better quality devices with affordable price tags.
Xiaomi in Pakistan
After many delays and challenges, Xiaomi mobiles will officially be launching in Pakistan on 20th of Feb 2017. In a partnership, Smartlink Technologies – a local distributor in the country, is all set to bring Xiaomi, one of the largest Chinese smartphone brands in Pakistan.
Local retailers previously had been selling the Mi smartphones in Pakistan, imported through whatever channel. Lot later, but Pakistan Telecommunication Authority took action and removed the smartphones from the market.
In an official statement, PTA disclosed that those handsets were not legally approved before going on sale in the market. Neither the importers got NOC for the sale of the said devices, nor the devices met equipment type approval standards.
As result, the company never launched the handsets officially in the country, it didn’t really hurt the brand in any way. It were the importers and local distributors who were at loss.
Although after the reports of having approved by the authority back in November, now as the reports suggest, Smarlink technologies has officially partnered with the Chinese brand to launch Xiaomi handsets in Pakistan.
A newspaper advert reveals that partnership between the two companies will initially launch a few of the recent Mi handsets. The company will also launch Eco products or accessories.
Launch event will be held in Islamabad on Feb 20th and is likely to be attended by Xiomi officials from China as well. Zong and Daraz are also mentioned as launch partners.
Xiaomi mobiles will be made available in stores across Pakistan immediately after launch. Alongside, Xiaomi phones will also be available at online stores including Daraz.
So if you are expecting the same affordable prices of Xiaomi handsets in Pakistan via official means, just don’t. It’s just like how Apple’s authorised distributors are selling their devices in the country but the big giant is not playing itself in the market.
Well, there are no words about official pricing of Xiaomi handsets but their international pricing is quite affordable. There is no need to mention that Xiaomi smartphone will be sold in a country with official warranty along with after sale services.
We don’t have any words on prices of Xiaomi phones as of yet but, as you may expect, we will bring you the details as soon as it would be possible for us.
According to reports, most recent entrants such as Mi Max and and Mi 5 might make their way to Pakistani market. Along with a few more handsets, Mi Eco products and accessories will also be available in local market. These will include products like car chargers, power banks etc.
Reports claim that at least four Xiaomi mobiles had been given type approval from PTA, and it is likely that more phones will be retailed in Pakistan very soon.
Currently type approved phones include:
- Xiaomi Mi Max
- Xiaomi Mi 5
- Xiaomi Note 3
- Xiaomi Note 4
